Pence was born in South Charleston, WV, and has spent his career serving residents of Kanawha County. Zerbe & Pence, PLLC serves localities of West Virginia, and expanded to service surrounding areas in Kentucky and Ohio. David attended Marshall University, where he graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Finance in 2002. From Marshall, David attended the West Virginia University College of Law, where he earned his J.D. in 2005. He received his license shortly thereafter.
Practice Focuses on Criminal Defense, Disability, and DUI Matters
Since beginning his legal practice, he has served clients in cases of criminal defense, Social Security, and DUI charges. One of the cases that stands out include successfully rendering a “not guilty” verdict as co-counsel for the murder trial of State v. Johnson. Additionally, he has successfully handled many DUI defense cases, including Meadows v. Reed at the West Virginia Supreme Court level. He has won countless other DUI cases for clients who did not wish to share their information. We keep in contact with experts in DUI science and technology and routinely commission experts to testify when necessary.
State and National Professional Affiliations
David has taught DUI seminars and Social Security Disability seminars to both public defenders and legal aides. Professionally, he is a member of the West Virginia DUI Defense Lawyers Association and the National College of DUI Defense. David is also a top-rated lawyer under Super Lawyers.
Outside of work, David enjoys fly fishing, backpacking, golf, and downhill skiing. He also volunteered for several years with the Upward Basketball Program at his local church.
